A Traditional Kacirebonan Wedding

          Talking about wedding ceremony, The  people Of Cirebon generally are Javanese and Sundanese . But to celebrate the wedding ceremony in places is different. The wedding procession is influened by the tradition include in each procession. It comes from the around of society, because most at Cirebon
society are Javanese and Sundanese.
          Every procession in wedding ceremony has different meaning, because in every procession needful preparations, wedding tradition on Kacirebonan palace are, Ngajegog, Siraman,Ijab Qobul,Panggih,ngidek endog, Sekul Adep-adep, Kidung, and ngunduh mantu.
          First procession is Ngajegog. Ngajegog should be done several months before the wedding. Ngajegog comes from the Cirebon language the meaning of  propose marriage to. The marriage must be done by groom to parents bride. When the propose marriage, the groom bring a dress, jewelry for the bride, kitchenware, and money. If  marriage receivable by the family bride, then the groom asking date, time and location wedding to the family bride.
         Then ,  Siraman procession. Siraman is ceremony of bathing a bride and groom prior to the wedding. Siraman should be done in the bride house and should be doing by a particular person or dresser.
        Next procession is Ijab Qobul or wedding contract . When the groom getting married by muslim leader, then followed by the groom, during the procession, his parents not allowed to watch. Afterwards, body the groom covered by batik cloth of bride parents. Ijab Qobul have been completed, the bride and groom sign the marriage certificate.
        After the ceremony the bride and groom met or often known in terms of language cirebon as Panggih Ceremony. During the  procession of Panggih, The event continued with the ceremony ngidek endog the means ‘treading eggs’’. The process is groom treading eggs on top ‘pipisan’ coated with obsolete cloths. After that, the bride washing the groom's feet with water that has been provided.
After that there was a procession called Sekul Adep-adep, This ceremony is the bride and groom wedding eat rice with a side dish of pigeons. Why using pigeon not using chicken? because the pigeons symbolizes faithfulness.
        After all the ceremonies carried out, then performed the ceremony Kidung. Kidung is a traditional song, there's a song in the counsel of the elders for the bride and groom.  In order to live peacefully with his wife and his new family. Kidung when the event takes place, the bride and groom do ‘’sungkem’’ to both parent. First, Sungkem to the groom's parents, then sungkem to the bride parents. after the kidung are usually covered with prayer and blessing from the audience.
        Finally, the last ceremony was ngunduh mantu. Ngunduh mantu done by the bride's family. Ngunduh mantu ceremony is emigration groom to the bride's house. It is also so sad because after the wedding, both the groom's parents left to go to a new life with his new wife and family.
